This project demonstrates how Delta Railroad Services is able to provide innovative ideas that save time and cost without hindering quality.
Delta founded an idea on how to efficiently replace Direct Fixation Fasteners over the course of multiple weekend outages while allowing revenue train traffic to operate at full speeds across the work area between each outage. This idea produced a higher quality product, in less time, for less money thereby saving commuter passengers from further delays due to slow orders and single tracking operations, and eliminating the possibility of incurring the $96,000.00 per hour in Liquidated Damages
Description: This was a Direct Fixation Project to replace the existing fasteners to a new fastener system. Delta Railroad came up with an innovative technique to design and manufacture our own temporary plate system for this job. This ensured there would be minimal risk while we worked to put the track back together for revenue service. It also ensured a much higher production rate
which allowed us to finish the job a year ahead of schedule.
