Project Name: Queens Blvd. East (QBL) Special Trackwork Replacement
This project demonstrates Delta Railroads abilities working with owners and general contractors to work towards the goal of the owner. Delta Railroad successfully performs these challenging outages for a major transit system allowing them to return to revenue service as scheduled.
TRACKWORK REPLACEMENT
Dates of Construction: 12/2022 to 07/2025
Location: Jamaica, NY
The “QBL East Project” will replace the existing fixed block relay-based signal system from the interlocking at Union Turnpike Station to the interlocking at the Jamaica-179th Street Station on the Queens Blvd “F” Line (the “Project Line”).
The work being performed by Delta Railroad on this project includes, but is not
limited to, the furnishing of material, labor, equipment, tools, supervision, and incidental items necessary to complete: Demolition, Removal, Procurement, and Installation of New Special Trackwork including replacing the existing ballasted structure with a concrete track slab.

Remove Type I (Ballasted) Turnouts – 30 EA
Install Type II (Concrete Embedded Ties) Turnouts – 22 EA
Remove Type I (Ballasted) Track – 2,479 TF
Install Type II (Concrete Embedded Ties) Track – 2,647 TF
Replace Switch Point/Stock Rails, Plate, and Ties – 6 EA
Pour Type II Non-Reinforced Concrete Track Slab – 2,400 CY
Replace Ties at Switch Machines – 152 EA
Install New 84C & Re-Used 105LB Contact Rail – 3,945 LF
Replace Bumping Posts – 8 EA
Project Schedule: This project was scheduled to be completed during highly coordinated track outages.
Delta Railroad coordinated with the MTA, E-J Electric, and sub-contractors to safely and efficiently perform each scheduled outage.
